  • Hydraulic Factory Settings

    • 1. Free spool the winch drum unless there is no cable on the drum. Loose the locking nut on the overcenter valve (1) Pull to wind the cable in (keep it free spooled). Turn the setscrew # 1 until gauge shows ~800 psi. To increase pressure - turn the screw to the left. To reduce pressure - turn the screw to the right.
    • 2. Push the lever to rewind or back out the winch cable. (still keep it in free spool mode) Loose the locking nut on the overcenter valve (2) Turn set screw # 2 until the gauge shows ~1000 psi. The pressures can varies a little, the importance is that the out going pressure is higher ~ 200 psi than going in.
    • 3. Pull to wind the cable in. Loose the locking nut on the sequence valve (3) Turn the setscrew # 3 until the pressure is ~1250 psi the winch will change to high speed when you reach 1200.1300 psi. Your winch is now set as it was from the factory and should work without any problems. Make sure the filter is OK as a high back pressure will affect the winch performance. (Note that some winches have the block turned 90 degree to the right than what the picture shows. The settings are still the same.)

  • Hydraulic Factory settings

The valves A and B are same type, over center valves. Valve C is a sequence valve.
      1. Free wheel the winch.
      2. Pull the lever as the winch should pull, (drum will not turn as it is in free- wheel position.)
      3. The gauge should read approx. 40-50 bars.
      4. Push lever as the winch should back out cable. The gauge should read 40 -50 bar higher than previous reading.
      5. If not, turn one of the A or B valves set screws. If as example setting A would not make any difference in pressure reading try B. Make sure you know how many turns you did and turn it back to start position.
      6. When done with A&B settings engage the winch again for test.
      7. Pull winch lever and the winch cable starts to pull. Now turn valve C until the winch gear down to low speed. Turn the set screw back slowly until winch gear up to high speed and leave it there. Your winch should now work without problems.
    browreckers
  • Trouble shooting

The winch pulling capacity depends of how many layers of cable is on the drum. The closer to the bottom layer the more pulling power. Make sure that the cable is pulling under the drum, -never on top. If the winch backs off during winching with a rattling sound the dog clutch # 27 is slipping and need to be replaced, include new bolts # 25,25. The spring # 9 that holds the clutch engaged should be replaced together with new o-rings # 5 and 6.
